Real help from real people
DISC Newquay helps the homeless, vulnerable, and anyone else in need in Newquay and the surrounding area
We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered Feb 2017, Charity Number 1171562 that evolved from many previous years of work by the original founders.
The beauty of our location here in Cornwall belies the fact that we are amongst the poorest areas in the country and during the recent COVID crisis one survey put Newquay as the worst affected town in England in economic terms. We are here to help people who have fallen into the poverty trap and all its attendant problems such as homelessness, debt, mental health, addiction, etc. If we can't help directly, we will know someone who can. We're here to help you get back on your feet and move forward. In normal times we're also here for tea, cake, and some banter. If you need help, please let us know. That's what we're here for.
We run sessions from the Sandy Lodge Hotel, 6-12 Hilgrove Road, Newquay TR7 2QY
Monday and Friday – 2-3.30 pm for handing out meals at Sandy Lodge.
4.30-5 pm for collection of meals on the main road outside of St Michael's Church.
We can also help with emergency gas and electric top-ups and housing needs. Please ask for Monique. All conversations will be confidential. Please don't suffer in silence - we're here to help.
PLEASE NOTE that during the COVID crisis, our normal sessions have been suspended. We are however providing food on Mondays (4 day's worth) and Fridays (3 day's worth) to take-away. See Facebook for details.
We are a small charity and we rely on the generous donations of money and food from members of the public, local organisations and businesses in order to operate. If you could help us in any way, and that includes volunteering at one or more sessions per week, we'd love to hear from you. If you'd like to donate money to us, we have a PayPal Just Giving Fund account from which we get 100% of your donation (don't forget to say you are eligible for Gift Aid!). Thank you so much. We couldn't do this without you.
